A short survey on Norma’s history of interpretation – thanks to the approach of historical instruments – introduces a review of two recent video recordings, derived from recent performances at the Liceu in Barcelona, in 2015, and at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in London, one year later. New trends of stage direction are also discussed, with regard to Kevin Newbury’s and Àlex Ollé’s visual interpretation of Bellini’s masterpiece.
